Back when fashion was really fashion, you could go into your local dress shop and buy a complete ensemble. By ensemble, I mean a pair of shoes with a matching handbag, a hat with a pair of matching gloves, but more importantly, a dress with a matching coat or jacket. If any of you have seen the movie Down With Love, you'll know what I'm talking about. I love the scene where Vicki and Barbara walk in and they have completely opposite outfits in yellow and black and white. When I saw this outfit on Etsy, it completely reminded me of the scene. The dress being offered is a little plain, but if you are handy with a needle and thread, it could be very easy to make some little belt loops to hold up a super skinny black patent belt at the high waistline to create some visual effect. I love in films like How to Marry a Millionaire where models come and demonstrate outfits, perhaps that still happens in posh department stores
