More Wylde Ivy perfume reviews and some additional thoughts

I hope everyone had a great weekend! We had quite a bit more rain here so most of the weekend was spent indoors. I did however go to a another yoga class on Saturday which I quite enjoyed. I also finished up my 30x30 square for my knitting class tomorrow and I can now say that I can successfully knit and purl! Yay for achievements!!!

Also I wanted to say that while my blog is for myself, I do enjoy providing something for my readers that they can't always find on other blogs. That said, is there something that you would like to see more of or something that you haven't seen here at all that you would like to? Please leave me comments, opinions, suggestions. All of my lurkers please speak your piece as well! I enjoy getting feedback and while I know this might be opening up the flood gates for criticism, constructive criticism, and I emphasize CONSTRUCTIVE, can be helpful too.

On to other things!! I have quite a few more reviews of the Wylde Ivy perfume samples. I didn't get to finish all of them so I'll have the last three for you some time this week.

First off, Black Tobacco. I really can't say enough good things about this one. It's so complex, it's really hard to even describe. It's definitely unisex. The closest scent from my experience that I can compare it to would be the scent you smell when you walk into a Smith & Hawken garden shop. I know a lot of you may not have done this but that really is the closest thing I can think of. It's very smokey yet very mossy. The Wylde Ivy shop describes it as being dried woods and tobacco leaves, a daring dose of spice, with subtle bottom notes of tea leaves and amber resin.

Second is Ember. I really enjoyed this one as well. It comes across to me as very spicy like cinnamon but then citrus as the same time. It softens down to a smokey vanilla and becomes more feminine smelling as it dries down. This is a very autumnal scent! Wylde Ivy describes it as black vanilla, vetiver grass, wood smoke, cinnamon bark, and pomegranate.

Third is Black Cat. This one kind of came across as smelling like some type of a spicy/berry Christmas candle. It was a little overwhelming but did soften after awhile. There isn't any berry scent listed but I swear I smell something like it. Wylde Ivy describes this as black vanilla, exotic spices and patchouli, and musk topped off with a hint of sugar dust and jasmine petals.

Fourth is Black Patch. The most prominent thing in this was the ginger and patchouli followed by woods and orange. This came across as very masculine in my opinion and definitely very spicy. Wylde Ivy describes this as smooth patchouli blended with black pepper, exotic woods, fresh ginger, Valencia orange, oakmoss, violet leaf, and amber. I didn't really pick up on the moss or violet in this.
Fifth is Starling. This is a very warm scent, I'm mostly smelling wood with vanilla. It's very creamy. Wylde Ivy describes this as cedar wood dipped in vanilla, with a touch of amber resin and damp sandalwood.

Lastly for today is Wood Nymph. This is a very sweet smell. I'm mainly smelling the jasmine and patchouli and a little bit of honeysuckle. I would describe this as a smokey floral. Wylde Ivy describes this as patchouli and damp leaves and the barest whisper of honeysuckle and jasmine.

Overall out of this batch, I'm quite taken with Black Tobacco and will most likely be ordering a full size bottle. Also keep in mind that these scents will work differently for everyone and just because some of them didn't work for me doesn't mean they won't work for you. So honestly the best thing for you to do is order some of the samples for yourself.

I'm really excited about the uniqueness of all of these scents and once I finish sampling all of them, I will also be getting some more samples to try and review for you. Let me know if there are any scents that you would like for me to review and I can include them in with my next order!!

PS Don't forget about my Wiggle Perfume giveaway! Last day to sign up is Oct. 16th AND if you reblog the giveaway and post the URL with your entry, I'll enter you into the contest twice.

I hope everyone's Monday is as fabulous as Mondays can be!!!

  4. As someone who is on the perpetual hunt for the "perfect" - and yet still affordable - scent, I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate your firsthand reviews of these perfumes. Sweet (like really good quality pipe) tobacco has always been a treasured scent of mine, so I think that the Black Tobacco might be right up my alley.

    Big hugs!
