Vintage Inspired Art: Lab Partners

Today I wanted to feature a shop on Etsy that has some really fun and obviously vintage inspired art. It's inspired by a type of art that was prominently used in the mid 20th century in advertisements and packaging and exudes such a happy and lighthearted feeling. They have been gone from their shop for a while but are back in full swing with some old favorites as well as some new offerings. I have this first one in my dining room and it's really so cute! Notice the birds and flowers in her hair!

  3. I love this style of graphics from the 60s. Hard to believe that back then, they were created before the invention of Adobe Illustrator. Today this look is very easy to recreate.

Thank you for all of your well wishes; you are so sweet! :)

  5. Oh this is great! I love the city scene. It reminds me of animated film intros from the 60's.

  10. Absolutely wonderful art work, I'm especially drawn to the second piece. The blue and pink hues are so delightfully 50s! I want that print so much now - added to the (giant ;D) wish list! :)

    Oodles of hugs, sweet heart!

  11. i esp. love the houses! i think, for me, this stuff is very nostalgic and reminds me so much of my childhood. (although i wasn't even alive at the time - i suppose my school and library was just full of mid-century kids' books!)

i've noticed some of my newer drawings i've been playing with are more graphic and color block-y like this stuff; there's just something so lively and playful and free about this style.
